Hair Treatment

So, you wake up in the morning and notice loose strands of hair on your pillow. Even more can be found in the drain after your shower. Then, you look at your high school photo and realize that your hairline used to be quite a bit lower.  It’s happening: nature is taking its course and you’re starting to lose your hair.
It’s part of life, but doesn’t mean you need to give up without a fight. With the right type of hair treatment, you can slow and, in some cases, even reverse the process of hair loss.

Types of Hair Treatment

As long as humans have existed, a significant percentage of men have faced baldness. Countless homemade hair treatments have been tried ever since, and some of them have some merits. For example, scalp massages, the rubbing in of certain oils, and other natural hair methods have been shown to at least slow the balding process. Such hair treatments rarely work miracles however, because they do not address one of the fundamental causes of male baldness, hormonal imbalance.

Medicinal Hair Treatments

The most effective hair treatments do more than just stimulate hair follicles, they block the presence of dihydrotestosterone or DHT, which is a derivative of testosterone. When DHT enters hair follicles, it causes them to shrink until they finally stop growing hair.  In response, scientists have developed formulas like minoxidil, Medroxyprogesterone (MPG) and Azelaic Acid (AA), which actually block DHT from entering hair follicles. As a result, follicles can regain their vigor and hair growth can resume. Some of these hair treatments require prescriptions, while other can be bought over the counter.

Nutritional Hair Treatments

Another effective hair treatment is to use shampoos with essential proteins, minerals, herbs and other natural supplements. Such hair treatments are often used in conjunction with medicinal hair treatments.

Laser Hair Treatment
A more recent type of hair treatment uses low-powered laser to stimulate hair growth. Typically, it is in the form of a comb, which is used to brush hair for several minutes, two or three times per week. This type of hair treatment works best in combination with other medicinal and/or nutritional hair treatments.
